Le groupe n'aime pas beaucoup l'album non plus.

Radiohead have criticised Hail to the Thief. In 2006, Yorke told Spin: "I'd maybe change the playlist. I think we had a meltdown when we put it together ... We wanted to do things quickly, and I think the songs suffered."[92] In 2008, Yorke posted an alternative track listing on Radiohead's website, omitting "Backdrifts", "We Suck Young Blood", "I Will" and "A Punchup at a Wedding".[6] In an interview with Mojo, O'Brien said Radiohead should have cut the album to ten tracks and that its length had alienated some listeners, and Colin Greenwood said several songs were unfinished and that the album was "a holding process".[93] Jonny agreed that it was too long, and said: "We were trying to do what people said we were good at ... But it was good for our heads. It was good for us to be doing a record that came out of playing live."[93]

In 2013, Godrich told NME: "I think there's some great moments on there – but too many songs ... As a whole I think it's charming because of the lack of editing. But personally it's probably my least favourite of all the albums ... It didn't really have its own direction. It was almost like a homogeny of previous work. Maybe that's its strength

Je suis d’accord avec Thom.
Mais rien que pour Where i end and you begin  j’aime quand même cet album.

C'est un album avec lequel j'entretiens un rapport assez compliqué.

Déjà, il arrive après la trilogie Ok computer/Kid A/ Amnesiac ce qui est déjà lourd à porter.

Et je l'ai effectivement trouvé trop long ou en tout cas qu'il comportait trop de titres dont certains assez moyens (Backdrift, We suck young blood, Scatterbrain, Punch up...) et je suis pas un grand fan du travail de Nigel sur celui-là.

Je le réhabilite avec les années, je l'écoute beaucoup ces derniers temps (dans la version réduite de Thom).

ça aurait pas été inintéressant de le ressortir en version courte, en retravaillant un peu les transitions et avec un second disque de face B mais ça aurait été surement invendable de commercialiser une version courte d'un album qui existe déjà...Après il y avait moyen de faire une chouette édition collector, les artworks de l'époque étaient cools en plus. et c'est le seul album restant avec the bends et pablo à ne pas avoir une box dédiée.

Visiblement, ils ont préféré taffer sur The Bends pour les 30 ans, et il y a de quoi faire donc bon:

Je sais bien qu'eux même n'en sont pas satisfaits.
Moi je l'aime bcp.
J'aime bien également la tracklist choisie pour la version épurée, même si j'aime bien Backdrifts & We suck.
Mais moins que celles gardées (à part peut-être Go to sleep qui ne m'a jamais fait chavirer).
2+2, Sit down, Where I end, There there et Myxomato. sont des pièces très importantes je trouve de leur disco.

C'est certain. There There est peut-être leur meilleur titre à guitare. Le break de 2+2 est génial et fun. C'est un album pas parfait mais il y a de très bons titres parmi leurs meilleurs. Perso je réécoute plus HTTT que IR par ex.

Oui, il y a de très bons titres, que j'aime beaucoup entendre en live.

2+2, There There, Wolf at the door, Myxomatosis, The Gloaming...ce sont des titres qui sonnent très bien en concert.

Et j'aimerai bien qu'ils en jouent d'autres à l'avenir que je n'ai jamais eu l'occasion de voir ( Go to sleep, Sail to the moon, pourquoi pas sit down stand up...)
